Before you fish

Fishery Rules

These rules help protect the fish, wildlife and peaceful atmosphere at Woodlands Fishery. Please read them before your visit.

General Site Rules

  • Woodlands Fishery accepts no responsibility for injury, loss, or damage to persons or property.
  • All anglers must check in at the shop on arrival.
  • Ash & Hawthorn lakes are adult only (16+).
  • Under 16s must be supervised by an adult (18+).
  • Aerators may operate during periods of low oxygen.
  • Any angler causing unnecessary distress or harm to fish will be asked to leave immediately.
  • No driving on grassed areas.
  • BBQs are permitted but must be raised off the ground.
  • No drugs permitted on site.
  • Alcohol is allowed; anti-social or drunken behaviour will not be tolerated.
  • Dogs must be kept on a lead and under control at all times.
  • Please clean up after your dog.
  • All rubbish must be taken home or disposed of in the correct bins provided (General Waste / Mixed Recycling / Glass).
  • Please respect wildlife, the environment, and other anglers.
  • The bailiff’s decision is final at all times.

Fishing Rules

  • All nets, slings, and unhooking mats must be disinfected before use.
  • Fish care spray is mandatory (sold in the shop at trade price).
  • Use fish care spray on all hook holes and visible sores.
  • All fish must be returned safely and unharmed.
  • Keepnets are only permitted with prior permission.
  • No carp in keepnets.
  • Do not handle fish with towels or cloths.
  • Always kneel when handling or photographing fish.
  • Rods must not be left unattended at any time.
  • No braided mainline.
  • Anti-tangle tubing must be used on all rigs.
  • No fixed leads or elasticated feeders.
  • Unused bait must not be thrown into the lake.

Bait Rules

  • Boilies allowed on Hawthorn only (specimen).
  • No imitation baits (plastics).
  • No dog or cat meat.
  • No nuts.
  • All feed baits to be used in moderation.

Night Fishing Rules

  • No movement of cars after dark.
  • Bivvies only, no tents.
  • No BBQs within three metres of your bivvy.
  • No retaining fish.
