A peaceful countryside fishery where anglers can enjoy varied waters, natural surroundings and a calm day beside the lake.

Woodlands Fishery is a five lake coarse fishery set within a beautiful natural valley on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds near Spilsby. Our spring-fed lakes offer a variety of fishing experiences, from traditional silver fish waters to lakes stocked with carp approaching 30lb.

Surrounded by mature woodland and natural wildlife, the fishery provides a peaceful and scenic environment for anglers of all abilities.

Willow Lake at Woodlands Fishery

Willow Lake

Willow, the original lake on the Woodlands complex, sits at the head of a picturesque natural valley surrounded by mature woodland. The lake is fed by natural springs and a small stream providing fresh, oxygenated water throughout the year.

With eight pegs and a maximum depth of around five feet, Willow offers traditional coarse fishing with species including Roach, Rudd, Perch, Skimmer Bream, Gudgeon and Crucian Carp alongside Tench and Bream up to 4lb.

Elm Lake at Woodlands Fishery

Elm Lake

Elm is the second of the original lakes at Woodlands Fishery and is fed year-round by natural springs and the outflow from Willow Lake. Water lilies and underwater snags make this lake one that rewards anglers with patience and control.

Similar in size to Willow, Elm features seven pegs including three double pegs and one disabled access peg. The lake contains Skimmers, Roach, Rudd, Crucian, Gudgeon, Perch, Tench and small Carp reaching around 5lb.

Oak Lake at Woodlands Fishery

Oak Lake

Oak Lake is the largest of the three original lakes at Woodlands, covering approximately an acre. Constructed in 1989 by damming the stream running through the fishery, the lake originally operated as a trout lake before later becoming a thriving coarse fishery.

Oak contains sixteen pegs and depths reaching around eight feet. The lake holds a wide range of species including Carp to 15lb, Roach, Rudd, Skimmers, Tench, Gudgeon, Brown Bream and Perch.

Ash Lake at Woodlands Fishery

Ash Lake

Ash Lake was created as part of the 2004 expansion programme and sits within lush vegetation and small overhanging alder trees that provide excellent margin fishing opportunities.

The lake contains eleven custom-built non-slip pegs including four disabled access swims. Ash is dominated by smaller Carp averaging 3–7lb alongside Roach, Skimmer Bream and Perch.

Hawthorn Lake at Woodlands Fishery

Hawthorn Lake

Hawthorn is the larger of the two match lakes constructed during the 2004 expansion programme and spans over an acre. The lake features a substantial reed-fringed island along with dense bankside vegetation and overhanging alders.

Hawthorn has twelve swims including two disabled access pegs and depths of around six feet. The lake is well stocked with carp, with specimens reaching up to 29lb.

Fish species

Species at Woodlands

Across the five lakes at Woodlands Fishery, anglers can target a wide range of traditional coarse fish species, from hard-fighting carp to classic silver fish.

Found in several lakes with fish averaging 3–7lb and specimens reaching up to 29lb in Hawthorn Lake.

Roach

Roach

A classic silver fish found throughout the fishery, providing consistent sport on maggots, bread and corn.

Rudd

Rudd

Often caught near the surface during warmer months and a great species for float fishing.

Perch

Perch

Striped predators that provide exciting sport and are commonly caught on worms or small baits.

Bream

Bream

Both skimmer and bronze bream can be found in several lakes, responding well to groundbait and feeder tactics.

Tench

Tench

The famous “doctor fish”, with specimens up to around 5lb present in some lakes.

Crucian Carp

Crucian Carp

A traditional species found in the original lakes, prized by anglers for their cautious feeding habits.

Gudgeon

Gudgeon

A small but popular species that is great for beginners and younger anglers.
